Recent Think Dirty Reviews
Nice idea, needs some work. As others have said the database is missing most items (yes, I have searched by product name). Adding a product takes a lot of time. The rating system is not very useful. Potential allergens are always rated as unclean, even if you are not allergic. Explanations for ingredient ratings are sometimes vague and it it takes a few clicks to view. Would be nice to be able to see the allergic potential rating and sustainability rating separate from general health effects.
I like the app, but I’m disappointed that many products are not in the database. It definitely takes a while to add the information about a new product. We should also be able to add products without using the barcode. Most of my current products have the barcode on the box and not the product itself, and of course I threw out the package when I bought them (before I found out about the app). A lot of the products aren’t manually vetted so I don’t know how reliable most of the ratings are
I love the idea of this app. I love how you can basically scan any product and see the ingredients and if they are bad and why etc. BUT what I don’t like is labeling a product as “all bad” or red just because of a single not so good ingredient. It’s usually just fragrance in a lot of cases it’s not that big of a deal. Just because a product has a single bad ingredient doesn’t necessarily mean the product is bad in my opinion. But overall really informative app and a great tool.
there’s a lot of products (most common ones) that are not listed. it’s also annoying that i can’t turn off the dailynotifications. I’ll look if i want to! UI on this is ok, needs work. FYI, keyboard takes up half the screen. i know u can tap away, but that means you need to change the layout so you van view the sections easier. feels like a hybrid platform.
Great idea, terribly executed. None of my products are listed, the scanner doesnt work and the search function is horrible. If you’re looking for a specific brand they tailor your results to their advertised products. If I’m looking for “NYX” it brings up all their advertised products containing an N,Y or X instead of looking for the whole word. You have to scroll around to find the brand you’re looking for. Then when you actually get in the realm of what you want they only have 1 or 2 things.
lots of room for improvement, I find it frustrating that only certain products are listed, and then theres the same product added like 4 times, could be cleaned up for sure. 90 percent of the time when you scan something it doesnt come up as well. i will continue to use this app because it gives all products a fair shot considering there isnt fees for other companies to have to pay for to be rated…with that being said..it is odd that seventh gen has its own button…
Great app overall, so incredibly useful. I like how it breaks down each ingredient and explains them. Wished they had even more products available, but you can always submit them for review yourself. I would also like to see more products that are listed be inspected personally as stated on the bottom. Sometimes products may have no ingredient list, but still have a rating. Maybe add a button to flag these so you can get a heads up.
I like the concept of what this app offers, having a database of product ingredients at my fingertips would be so awesome. That being said, the app is beyond glitchy. When it sends you notifications about new products, it doesn’t load the page when you click the tab for more info. None of the notifications load. Also, the links to the products’ shopping websites are often wrong or broken. If it worked, I’d give it five stars. But as it is, it’s just one star for a good concept.
love the idea of this app but I keep getting an error signing up, don’t get an email when it says my password is wrong and I want to reset it, and I can’t submit a product for review because it shows up another error. So I can’t do much with the app right, constantly showing up errors. Otherwise than that, great initiative!
I like the concept, but the longer I’ve used the app the more frustrating it has become. I’ve come across items which have more than one rating, or list ingredients that aren’t on the actual item. Many of my products don’t even appear on this app and I haven’t seemed to get very quick results from submitting my own item for them to review. For a lotion I submitted, I listed the name and ingredients, then eventually got back a rating for the same brand but a different scent. App still needs work.
