Get another app immediately. Unusual, unchangeable file format. No way to organize into folders, so lots of scrolling involved. Titles and other metadata are simply not saved. At all. And the recordings sound like garbage at their low bitrates. Also, if I send people recordings, the originals are cut to 8 seconds?! My original content is DELETED by me trying to share it. What were they thinking? How was this passable by any quality standard? Avoid.

I figured this app would be simpler to use than a freemium one I tried out. It worked great for a few recordings, but it’s decided to not transcribe my most recent ones with no explanation at all. I can apparently clear the app cache to fix future recordings, but I can’t fix the ones I have recorded that need transcribing. What a frustrating waste of time.

The app can record your phone microphone, and an MP4 file will be stored. I’ve been able to share the file to dropbox. However, I’m unable to record a quality WAV file. I can’t choose the bit rate or sample depth. With a Pixel 6 pro, can’t even get quality sound recordings. This makes me question the quality of the sound that is recorded when the camera app is recording video. Google: total unacceptable, and now I have to look for third party software and wish that I bought an iPhone.

Transcripts are neat, but the app is useless if you can only transfer recordings off the phone by going through Google Drive. Why can I not transfer them to the Files app? (which would let me transfer from phone to computer over USB) Plus, default naming of files you share should be more detailed. Include the full timestamp (this is what happens for photos and videos from the camera app).

Can’t choose audio input. I have a Bluetooth mic that I want to use but I can’t choose it as a recording device on the App. “Auto-Detect” always chooses the phone microphones. Feature Request. Remove “Auto-Detect” and give us a list of microphone inputs. If we are going into the settings to select a microphone, you can assume we know exactly which microphone we want to use to record. Thank you!

Dictation is great, offline capability is awesome. That said, Google always seems to have a way to make it extraordinarily difficult, one way or another. Personal recordings are treated much like purchased music. Ie nearly impossible to find and manage accordingly as owner. ‘rented’ music should be difficult to download and find, purchased music shouldn’t. Nor should recordings.

The app is great. I use it all the time but it has the same fault as everything else Android that it can’t tell when you’re busy using it and it allows noisy interruptions while using it. So many many of my voice recordings are interpreted by phone sounds that apparently it activates when the phone can tell that I’m actively holding it and using it so when I try to make voice recordings Google is always interrupting them with other notifications. Typical of recent Google un-smarting the smartph

Records great. Does not work to record phone calls, I just have it set up on a different device if I need to record a phone call. You can edit and title recordings. They are automatically backed up to your Google drive. You can easily share recordings. Great for meetings!

The functionality is fine. The transcription feature is great. But it’s practically unusable unless you’re using the phone mic. I’m using the newest Pixel Buds and the app will not use the Bluetooth microphone. Unfortunately not everybody can have the phone less than an arm’s length from their mouth when talking. Moreover, it’s supposed to work with Bluetooth mics since the end of ’20. I see this issue in tons of message boards and there still is no fix.

This used to be pretty cool with its live transcription feature. However, recent version of the app refuse to enable live transcription, meaning that I have to use an old version of the app pulled from the internet to use a feature that is supposed to work. Past that, I think this recorder could be more powerful if there was a way to easily save things to device storage. I like the visuals of the app, though.
