They broke it. It used to show percentage cases by county, and with no notification or explanation that has been removed & replaced by an entirely different app under the guise of an “upgrade”. At least be honest and tell us if you’re retiring the old app, don’t just drop this thing with a different icon on our phones so we think we’ve been hacked. Uninstalling. No trust, no use – true for any software.

The main draw of this app had been access to recent COVID-19 stats by county, an immensely helpful feature. The app was redesigned a few days ago, removing that feature. Without that, I am considering uninstalling the app. Now, it only seems to serve as an exposure tracker, which relies on people who test positive to be using the app and reporting on the app – I guess that very few people do this, and if I’m right, that renders the app useless.

The recent redesign removed a key feature: graphs of COVID test positivity rates by county. It was very fast to check the weekly numbers at a glance to stay informed. The only options now are slow websites or a Google search. Gave two stars for continuing to support the exposure checker. However, the stats on the old home screen for the mass sharing of data from a trusted public health source were the main feature. Please bring them back.

Utterly useless now that it’s been changed. It was helpful to see the percentages of cases by county and the whole state. Now it’s just some rinky dink and ugly app supposedly there to alert you about “exposure”. Am uninstalling since that’s of no use whatsoever. The old app had that info plus percentage of positives and it looked nice. This now looks like it was designed by a 4 yr old.

They’ve completely removed the only feature of the app I used, which was the ability to easily follow the current case numbers and positivity rates of COVID where I live and where my parents live. I tried the exposure notifications but never got a hit in months and months of living in Manhattan, so I eventually turned it off – that part seems useless and now it’s the only thing left.

The idea behind this app is great. There is a running list of travel quarantine states in the NYS website, which this app does not include. It contains safety tips as well. It should also have a dark theme. The fact that Bluetooth needs to be on in order for the proximity alerts to work is not ideal. I feel this is an unnecessary security risk and that using cell tower triangulation is just as effective and requires less battery to operate.

I like the idea of an app like this a lot. It’s not that I go out in public often, and being notified of a possible exposure is good. However, on my Pixel 3XL, performance went into the toilet, and the battery drain was insane. Normally, I could listen to YouTube music while working out in my basement and only go down to 85-90% from a full charge. With this installed, it drops to 25-30% in an hour. It also caused recharge times to increase dramatically. Fix that issue, and I will reinstall.

Decent information, but not nearly enough, which is fine considering that is a secondary function. This app is perfect in theory, though a significant amount of the population would have to download it, and keep bluetooth on, to see benefits. People need to embrace this for any real benefits. Also, to everybody giving bad reviews because of bluetooth, go read why bluetooth is the method used before trying to ruin an app. If they chose the alternative, you would probably be up in arms.

The redesigned app, is a very poor redesign. The graphs for positivity rates by both State and County have been removed. This was the key thing, along with entering my health check for that day, that I looked forward to accessing the app on a daily basis. Now that they have been removed, I will give the developers two weeks and if they are not reinstalled, this app will be uninstalled. 09/06/22 stats are not back, I just uninstalled it.

Reported a positive result on Saturday. As of Monday, no one that I had been with for a significant period of time has been notified of a possible exposure. Doesn’t seem to meet it’s purpose nor provide easy access to data by county. Bummer, as it’s a great concept and could be very useful.
