Recent Gems of War – Match 3 RPG Reviews
Great game recently set back by some positively awful design choices. I’m not sure why, but a few months back, they changed the look of the story portions from a slick and simple one-v-one to a cluttered mess of panels and word balloons. Not only was this change completely unnecessary, as the previous look was great, it’s clear that whoever did the new layout doesn’t understand the first thing about either comics layout or information design. It looks sloppy and amateur. Change it back.
I played this game on Playstation 4 and love it. It’s fantastic on mobile phones as well. I’ll most likely have updated feedback later as well. There’s an awesome cinematic of the lands, and maybe it could be added to pc and consoles as well. I wish there would be a toggle option to turn on and off voices for the characters when they tell the storylines of the game, with cutscenes movie unlockables with completed quests, events, and Npc characters talking in general you can rewatch whenever.💗
A decent game with plenty to do and no mandatory ads. There’s a -bunch- of in your face click-aways urging you to make in game purchases, however. I’d say that’s a fair trade for a free game. After about a week of off and on play, I didn’t feel like it was for me. The main reason being the gradual realization that this is another mobile game you feel more obligated to play every day rather than when you’d like to. I uninstalled once auto battling feature was unlocked.
I really love this game, but there have been SO MANY critical issues since the last patch. The company is just continuously displaying a complete lack of consideration for the time and money of the player base. There are ongoing issues with notifications, the last event bugged out, purchases weren’t going through. So many people are quitting in frustration it’s hard to keep up our guild roster. The new patch just was not worth the problems it caused for Android players.
RNG favors the ai opponents, extremely hard to progress without spending money. It’s fun but it’s so hard to progress through the story because the ai are so far ahead in levels once you get past the first couple kingdoms. Every enemy troop can 1 shot you, also when you think you’re about to win, the last couple enemy troops all of a sudden get 3 extra turns and match 4 explosive skulls ending the round every time. Changing team composition doesn’t matter because RNG is never in your favor.
Game seems alright… But have only been able to log in once. Since then, I’ve been getting the spinning wheel of death waiting for it to load…. After 5 minutes of it spinning, I give up and close it out, and go to a different game. Would rate higher if I could play more of it. ——————————————– Got to play it again, finally, only to have it freeze up in the middle of a battle where I couldn’t move anything on the board!
Worked great at first. Built a good team, upgraded them, joined a guild, then all of a sudden it kept crashing/ force stopping. I uninstalled then reinstalled it, worked for a day, then right back to the same stop loop. I’ll wait for the bugs to get fixed. EDIT: The bugs were on Google’s end with a buggy update. Fixed. Game works fine. Back to burning up free time.
Starts fun, but this is one of those games where random number generators cheat for the AI. You will lose, not because you made mistakes or the enemy was that hard, but because the environment somehow helps the enemy over and over in the same turn. “Oh look! The AI got four in a row. The new gems fell just where it can get another four in a row. And a power skull just happened to appear right where they needed it. And more gems falling just where it needs it. How probable!”
Really enjoy this game! The battles are quickly paced, and very fun. Simple to play, but still a decent challenge. You need to be a bit more strategic than your average match-3 RPGs require. Only careful choices lead to success, in GoW… Speaking of choices. How you power up characters, teams, and yourself, is fairly in-depth; and there’s a plethora of tasks and quests to complete. Plus, several game modes. Also… !!F2P doesn’t feel like a handicap!! Rewards are plentiful, regardless. Love it.
I really wanted to like this game but it just throws to much at me at once. I can open 100+ chests at once and get ton of heroes. I don’t have the time or patience to look through all these cards and pick out a team. I end up spending more time in the menus than actually playing the game. A shame, as the gameplay is classic puzzle quest, very fun. Too bad it’s been bogged down by free to play elements.
